What We Love

  • Catching brook trout in the stream.
  • Swimming in the very private pool below the waterfall.
  • Reading Winona Lee Shattuck’s memoir in which she wrote about three generations of her family at Cascade Farm.
  • Catching sight of moose drinking from the pond in early morning or observing deer, turkeys, foxes, possums and otters that pass by.
  • Tapping sugar maples in the spring and boiling down the sap for maple syrup.
Cascade Farm is a light filled c. 1834 farmhouse sited on 63 acres with a brook, swimming hole and waterfall; endless stonewalls, apple trees, ancient maples, meadows and a small pond fill out the landscape. The beautifully maintained 3,218-square-foot farmhouse has a spacious living room with a fireplace, a dining room with wainscoting and a country kitchen that opens onto a stone terrace overlooking the perennial gardens and brook. There is a private suite on the first floor with a sitting room, bedroom and full bath. The second floor has five bedrooms including a capacious master bedroom with a fireplace and windows on all three sides. The energy efficient house is very low maintenance and a 22KW backup generator and security system are included. The “Coop”, a small building on the property once used for pheasants, has been repurposed as a guest cottage. Cascade Farm is a comfortable, peaceful place that invites you to slow down, dig your hands into the soil, pick raspberries and blueberries from over 36 bushes, fish for trout or cool off in the swimming hole on a hot summer’s day. Two barns and a potting shed open-up possibilities for horses and other livestock (stalls would need to be added) or for a summer workshop/studio/children’s theater space. Located near Stratton and Okemo Mountain Resorts, Viking Nordic Center and the Weston Playhouse.
